The Bundesliga really impressed me this summer… but still I think only Bayern Munich can compete on the European level, and win the Champions League.. clubs like Schalke, Werder, Wolfburg, Stuttgart are not consistent enough… and they change their squad almost every summer

As someone who grew up partially in Holland and a longtime supporter of the Oranje, I felt ashamed of the way they played in that final. For years they’ve been the “beautiful losers” of football. But when they finally took center stage after a 30 year absence they played ugly, thuggish football. I hope Cruyff comes in and restores the true excellence of Dutch football.

The Bundesliga is the healthiest league out there. Just give it some time and clubs like Real or Milan are gonna get in big trouble.
Clever management like that of Bayern Munich will pay off in the long run and it looks like we’re already seeing signs of it here. I cant remember seeing so many stars in the bundesliga…

Lyon and Marseille have pretty much the same start as well as Bordeaux. It had never happened before that 3 of the top Ligue 1 clubs were ranked so bad after 3 games. Marseille started with 2 losses and no clubs in Ligue 1′s history have won the title after 2 losses to start the season. The last two transfers Remy and Gignac wil bring intensity and keenness to the team.. will see in the next 5 games!

I agree with your sentiments re the Villa manager. I don’t think there would have been the level of capitulation under Martin O’Neill. The psychological effect on the team of having a caretaker manager after losing someone of the calibre of O’Neill cannot be overlooked.

A good review of the events of Sunday’s match – I feel that Newcastle were more urgent and dominated midfield more. Another factor that could have had a bearing on the result was the fact that, unlike Newcastle teams of old, the squad was playing like a team. They may not be a collection of big names, but they worked for each other. Villa, on the other hand, have lost a talisman manager in O’Neill, and this could have had an effect on team confidence and morale (despite the positives and quality of their caretaker manager). Newcastle have ‘gelled’ under Hughton while the Villa players might feel that their glue is not holding as well as before…

He’s a really good player and I think it should go to a bigger club. Perhaps Werder can hold him one more year but no more. I can’t wait to see him play in EPL or la Liga

Can we talk about how to help make the USMNT better? Please…Bornstein is terrible, unless he gets about 5 times better, i hope he isn’t the answer at left back. Center midfield…We need two holding midfield players, EDU can be one, but M. Bradley isn’t cut in that mold. I like M. Bradley, i just think he is more useful further up the field. If team USA can adopt a 4-2-3-1 one and play EDU and another defensive minded central midfielder in the holding slots, and then have M. Bradley playing in front of them, i think that would serve the team a lot better. I really think that bradley can be a force in the offensive end of the field. And please put Donovan back out on the wing!!!His one touch passes aren’t what the team needs in that laid back striker role. They need someone that is willing to take on another man, someone like bradley or clint dempsey

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw not just Almunia, but Fabianski in the Emirates Cup! What is Wenger thinking by not bringing in some new keepers? I want to say you’re wrong, but I’m afraid you are right.
