Argue all you want that his red hair and goatee got
him onto the U.S. National Team and even over to Serie
A, but Alexi Lalas has what it takes to make it in the
front office in MLS. The 35-year-old was yanked out
of San Jose this week and sent to the MetroStars to
become their new General Manager and President. The
MetroStars have been nothing but horrible, on the field
and at the gate, as the League looks for someone to
save a club that simply cannot be moved. Lalas’
first order of business should be to rid the club of
its current coach Bob Bradley and bring in someone who
will shake things up and get the MetroStars playing
something that resembles good soccer. As for what will
happen with San Jose, it all seems to be pointing south
and a little east as the Earthquakes look destined to
move to Texas and trade in those blues for the bright
yellow of Club America.
