Inter Milan Claim Coppa Italia, Parma on Verge of Relegation
Just when you thought the European season was over,
Inter Milan completed their capture of the Coppa Italia
with a 3-0 aggregate victory over a beleaguered AS Roma.
An easy 2-0 victory at Roma’s Stadio Olimpico
set up Wednesday’s 1-0 formality at the San Siro.
Inter Milan finished third in Serie A, well behind Juventus
and AC Milan but played an entertaining brand of calico
along the way and deserved some silverware of sort.
Roma, on the other hand, were a disaster from start
to finish with a revolving door being installed to the
manger’s office. The capitol club can take heart
that their appearance in the final at least earned them
a place in next season’s UEFA Cup. Meanwhile,
Parma and Bologna began their two-leg relegation playoff
with Bologna grabbing a valuable win in Parma 1-0. Bologna
are sitting pretty with the priceless away goal and
the second leg at home on Saturday.
