Manchester City’s bright young winger has become
one of the highest-profile summer transfer targets for
the big clubs of Europe. Everyone from Newcastle to
Barcelona have been rumored to be mulling bids for the
speedy winger, with numbers as high as 20 million pounds
being bandied about.
Shaun Wright-Phillips enjoyed a torrid start to the
2004/2005 season but then injuries slowed him down a
bit, he rebounded to become an integral part of Manchester
City’s late-season run at a UEFA Cup spot that
ultimately fell short by the slimmest of margins. City
would do well to hold on to the young international,
thought to David Beckham’s eventual successor
on England’s right midfield, but with debts still
hanging over the club the money on offer could be too
much to resist.
