Make up your mind, Steven
Gerrard
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has announced his
1,276th U-turn over his prolonged possible transfer
to anywhere. After announcing on Tuesday that he wanted
to walk away from the club, the very next day he changed
his mind and announced “this was my club.”
Chelsea had their bottomless checkbook out and ready
for the England midfielder, with exorbitant sums of
40 million pounds being bandied about, but now it looks
like Gerrard’s shirt will be red this coming season.
One has to wonder, is he really worth all this fuss?
He is talented for sure, but he usually needs someone
to cover for him (i.e. Dietmar Hamann, the unsung hero
of Istanbul), goes through this side-unsettling song
and dance every summer and is seemingly made of glass,
has he ever gone a full season without injury? His loyalty
must also be in question; moments after lifting the
European Cup he stated “How could I leave?”
and then dragged his club, teammates, friends, family,
supporters, everybody through this whole endless saga.
Enough already. Go or stay, we don’t care anymore.
