Downtown Berlin to Get World Cup Makeover with New Stadium from adidas

Thousands of Fans Expected to Join Cup Celebrations at the adidas WORLD OF FOOTBALL

Portland, Ore., April 12, 2006 – In celebration of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, adidas announced it will build a gigantic soccer park in downtown Berlin where fans from across the globe will experience a unique world of soccer. The heart of the adidas WORLD OF FOOTBALL will be a replica of Berlin’s Olympic Stadium, built in front of the famous German parliamentary building, where fans can watch live broadcasts of all World Cup games in an authentic stadium atmosphere.

On game-free days, the stadium will be used for concerts with international stars including Black Eyed Peas (June 28th) and James Blunt (July 7th). Starting June 8, nearly 70,000 visitors are expected to visit the nearly 500,000 sq. ft. soccer park every day. The adidas WORLD OF FOOTBALL will offer more than the stadium-linked activities. A diverse entertainment program and innovative soccer stations will be set up around the site, inviting visitors to test their skills against other fans.

Construction of the stadium is scheduled to commence mid-April. It will offer all the facilities featured at the state-of-the-art 2006 FIFA World Cup arenas. In addition to a VIP area, there will be a spacious backstage area and an extensive hospitality area where up to 250 people can be hosted.

Open every day from noon until midnight during the World Cup, the main entrance to the park will be located opposite the German Parliamentary building. Public tickets can be ordered at http://www.adidas.com/football starting April 1st.
