Mark Lincir’s MLS
Picks – Week 9
Could the game of the year have been between the Red
Bulls and Chivas USA? Say it ain’t so, otherwise
it’s time to close up shop. It wasn’t much
of a risk, but I took it by picking Rapids to beat the
Galaxy at home and I was rewarded handsomely. What’s
up with RSL? Ellinger is coaching them to VICTORIES?
It just doesn’t sound right, does it? Sampson
still at the helm doesn’t make any sense, but
rumor has it that the Galaxy are simply waiting for
Klinsmann to become available after the World Cup before
they yank the rug out from under Steve.
I went 3-3 last weekend and to tell you the truth, these
balanced records are killing me! I’m 20-26 overall
now and still feel like a have a shot at finishing the
season with a winning record. I’d rather go 6-0
or 0-6. All or none! Parity sucks! Too few teams in
the league makes it seem like everyone is already playing
everyone again…which they are. This weekend there
are sure to be some surprises.
FC Dallas @ Red Bulls: I’m taking the midweek
game as my wild card. Dallas won 2-1 and I would have
picked them anyway. The Red Bulls pissed this one away
when Mr. Graham got spun into the ground by Carlos Ruiz
at the end of regulation for the game-winner. Mo can’t
be enjoying this roller coaster ride and he’s
still got the “Amado” thing to deal with.
Colorado @ RSL: I know that I said I would never pick
RSL to win, and I won’t. RSL won big last weekend,
but so did the Rapids. The fairy tale can’t last
forever. Rapids 2-1.
Houston @ New England: The Dynamo are struggling without
Ching and the Revolution have to be looking to avenge
the 4-0 ass-kicking they endured last weekend in Dallas.
Revolution 1-0. Did I already mention that the Revolution
got their asses KICKED in Dallas last weekend? Oh, I
did? Didn’t mean to rub it in guys, but that was
bad!
D.C. @ Kansas City: The Wizards might not even be around
next season, so it would be nice if they could win a
few at home for those dozens of die-hard fans who turn
out to see them play. D.C. needs to grab this one on
the road. D.C. 2-1.
Chicago @ Chivas USA: Toughest pick of the weekend.
Chivas USA has to win sooner or later but the Fire are
making me a believer out of me. Fire 1-0.
