It’s funny how much things have changed since
I got back from Germany last week. In Germany, I woke
up before ten everyday to get the free breakfast that
our hotel offered. In the States, I get up before ten
because if I don’t I’ll miss the breakfast
that my wife made and am forced to eat lunch with her
as my first meal of the day (and it’s usually
something HEALTHY to boot!).
In Germany I drank along the river watching games on
a huge television screen or amongst thousands of hard-core
fans in the stadiums. In the States I’m watching
games with an elite group of friends that are lucky
enough to get an invite to my breakfast game parties…and
still drinking.
In Germany nobody seemed to mind if I was in there way,
they would simply bump into me. In the States, my wife
keeps taking runs at me with her elbows up all around
the house.
In
Germany it was hot and humid. In the States it’s
just hot (triple digits) and that’s why I’m
headed out to the California Coast to watch the rest
of the tournament with the cast from Laguna Beach (I
hope…oops, only the ones that are over 18). In
the third place game, I think that the Germans will
save face by blasting an extremely frustrated Portugal
side and send Klinsmann off to his new job with the
U.S. as a winner.
Tomorrow: The prediction.
